Teri Hendy, CPSI, President, The Hendy Institute
Teresa B. Hendy, CPSI (Teri) is President of the Hendy Institute. After spending nearly 30 years with Site Masters Inc. as a playground design and safety consultant Teri decided to change directions and focus on research, education and advocacy related to the value of play. Teri is dedicated to the promotion of play for all ages.
Ms. Hendy is vice-chair of the F15.29 Subcommittee that is responsible for the development of the ASTM F1487 Standard for public playground equipment. Teri has been honored by ASTM for her commitment to playground safety.
As a design and safety consultant Teri was responsible for creating hundreds of play environments throughout the United States. She was actively involved as a designer of these environments and as a safety consultant to play equipment manufacturers, amusement parks, fast food corporations, child-care agencies, schools, museums, science centers as well as government park and recreation agencies. Ms. Hendy authored training programs relating to the development of a comprehensive system of hazard identification, site analysis, maintenance and risk reduction. Many of these programs have been adopted and are practiced by private corporations, schools and public agencies throughout the United States.
