PlayCore, the leading company in play and recreation research, programming, and products, recently awarded its Fitness National Demonstration Site™ Award to a brand new outdoor fitness park, Warder Fit Stop, in Springfield, OH. The Warder Fit Stop outdoor fitness park features a cluster arrangement of equipment including a chest press, leg extension, balance board, cardio walker, and several other pieces. The site was designed to encourage the four elements of a well-rounded workout: cardio, muscle, core, and balance/flexibility, and includes adaptive equipment for people who use mobility devices.
“Providing a free fitness opportunity for Clark County residents is crucial to the efforts of the National Trail and the Clark County Combined Health District in reducing local obesity levels. In Springfield alone, nearly 1/3 of the population is obese. The Warder Fit Stop provides a well-rounded workout that is accessible by all” said Leann Castillo, Director of the National Trail Parks & Recreation District.
“The National Demonstration Site Designation is given to parks that align with the four identified areas of a well-rounded workout, involve the community in planning, actively market the space, and agree to participate in future data gathering," added Anne-Marie Spencer, PlayCore’s Corporate VP of Marketing. "The sites receive certification, become part of a national registry, and are promoted actively to other communities wishing to offer appropriate outdoor fitness for adults to help share best practices.”
The new National Demonstration Site™ will be listed on the National Fitness Park locator at http://fitness.playcore.com/. To receive a copy of Outdoor Fitness Parks: Best Practices for Promoting Community Health by Increasing Physical Activity, send a request to info@playcore.com.
